Buildbase Suzuki

Run by Stuart & Stephen Hicken under their long established Hawk Racing banner, Buildbase Suzuki will this year run alongside the Bennetts Suzuki team (riders Sylvain Guintoli & Taylor MacKenzie).

In choosing to make Buildbase Suzuki a single rider team, the vastly experienced father & son duo caused a major surprise when they announced they had signed up ‘Superbike Rookie’ Bradley Ray as their jockey of choice for 2017.

Yet in reality, this could well turn out to be an inspired selection.

Not only is Bradley the youngest rider on the grid (turning 20 years of age in May), but he is undoubtedly one of the most naturally gifted
young racers in the UK today.

It’s certainly been a meteoric journey from 125’s to a seat in the MCE British Superbikes for the bespectacled talent from Kent.

Despite being handicapped by his own physical height, he still finished 4th overall in the Red Bull Rookies & 3rd in the 125 British Championship in 2014. He then had a few rides in the National Superstock 600 series in 2015, before last year scoring 6 wins & placing 3rd in the Dickies British Supersports (and but for a troublesome opening three rounds could possibly have ended the year as Champion).

Bradley knows he has a lot to learn in a short space of time, but given his form to date could well surprise a few of the established stars as the season progresses.

(Note: Long standing title sponsors ‘Buildbase’ are one of UK’s fastest
growing builders merchants)
