For the second year running, Hawk Racing’s owner, Stuart Hicken, is charged with masterminding the Official Suzuki Team attack on the British Superbike Series.
Reunited with former title sponsors, national builders merchants, Buildbase, Stuart & son Stephen, are keen to get back to winning ways, following a 2017 campaign that did not work out as planned!
Involved in race management since 1998, former racer Stuart Hicken is no stranger to success, having two times won the National Superstock 1000 Title with riders Richard Coper (2011) & Taylor MacKenzie (2016), whilst Yuichi Kiyonari came closest to giving Hicken a British Superbike Crown in 2014. (Kiyo finished Runner Up after sitting out the final Brands round through injury).
BSB ‘Rookie’ of the year, Bradley Ray deservedly maintains his seat with the team following a hugely encouraging 2017.
Now with a year’s Superbike experience under his belt, including a best finish of third at Oulton Park, the Young Gun should now have the confidence to be challenging for a Showdown place this season. He will certainly be ruffling the feathers of one or two of the established ‘names’ along the way.
Runner up in the National Superstck 1000’s last year, former BSB race winner Richard Cooper, now into his third consecutive season with Hawk Racing, makes a justified return to the Premier Class. ‘Cooperman’ Is a class act and should be making a frequent visitor to the podiumthis year.
Competing in the UK since 2004, former British Supersport Champion and experienced Superbike rider Billy ‘Skippy’ McConnell joins the Buildbase Suzuki squad to challenge for honours in the prestigious National Superstock 1000 Championship.
