Suzuki Ecstar Moto GP
Now into it’s third season back in the ‘big league’, 2017 sees an all new rider line up for the Suzuki factory team.
Andrea Iannone replaces the departing Maverick Vinales, and is joined by class ‘Rookie’ Alex Rins as the No2.
A lot is expected of Iannone. He has been signed to win races, and build upon Suzuki’s single race victory to date, as recorded by Vinales in that incredible ‘lights to flag’ victory at Silverstone last year.
A fantastically talented rider, success for ‘The Maniac’, as he dubs himself, may well depend upon him harnessing his sometimes over exuberance. (Sevencrashes last year with Ducati left him a disappointing 9th overall in the Title chase. However, forget not that he also took his maiden Moto GP win, from Pole at Austin last season).
Make no mistake, the likeable Italian can & will win races this year.
Less is perhaps expected of Alex Rins in this his maiden year racing the GSX-RR in the premier class. However as Runner up in 2015, and third overall in the Moto2 World rankings last year, the Spaniard is a shrewd selection and will definitely be targeting top six finishes by mid season – if not before!
(Note: ECSTAR is the global brand name of Suzuki’s own Oil/chemical products).
