Suzuki Ecstar Moto GP
Following a troublesome Moto GP season in 2017, the official factory team of Suzuki Motor Corporation are intent on putting the record straight this year, with their “much improved” 2018 GSX-RR machine.
Despite the difficult challeges of last year, Andrea Iannone & Alex Rins both retain their seats for a second term.
Taking over the ride vacated by the departed Maverick Vinales, extrovert Iannone was signed by Suzuki last year, to win races. It didn’t happen and the Italian struggled to get comfortable with the bike. Eventually placing a lowly 13th overall, recording just nine points finishes all season, with a best result of 4th in the rain of Motegi, Japan.
Undeniably talented, ‘The Maniac’, as he dubs himself, knows that this season he must deliver results. Podium placings are not just desirable, they are essential!
Less was expected of ‘Rookie’ Alex Rins, who last season was hoping for plenty of time in the saddle to get comfortable with the Premier Class. Unfortunately a broken wrist, the legacy of a fall during free practice for the Austin,Texas round, put that plan on hold forcing him to sit out 5 valuable rounds.
Once back in the saddle, the former Runner Up in both Moto3 & Moto2 World Championships made impressive progress. Placing 5th at Motegi & an inspired 4th at the final round at Valencia.
………..Just don’t be surprised if the 23 year old picks up a podium or two this year.
