Bradley Ray does not look like your stereotypical Superbike racer !
Is it the glasses? Is it the hair? You decide, but suffice it to say, using his own words “I love the idea of coming in from the track and watching onlookers reaction when I take my helmet off and all the hair comes out, then on go the glasses to leave a goofy kid stood there! He sells himself short, because goofy kid, he most definitely is not. What he is though, beyond question, is one of the most popular riders amongst the track side fans, and circumstances permitting, you will always find him ready & willing for a chat or a ‘selfie’. Understandably, with those glasses, he is oft times referred to as ‘The Milky Bar Kid’ or ‘Joe 90’ (if you are old enough to remember that particular 1960’s character).
Either way, the future looks bright for the 21 year old (turns 22 in May), who last year kicked off with double race wins at the opening Donington Park round, adding a further three second place podiums as the season progressed to eventually finish 6th overall in the BSB Championship. Remaining with the Stuart Hicken run Buildbase Suzuki team for a third consecutive year gives the kid from Lydd in Kent, the continuity to fight for the title and is determined that the trip to the podium becomes a bit of a habit. His ultimate goal, as you would expect, Is to race in MotoGP. And having had a little taster, following a few laps on one of the factory grand prix ECSTAR Suzuki’s at Sepang, is now even more determined to make it happen.
