Not surprisingly, last years stand out rookie sensation Tarran Mackenzie remains with McAMS Yamaha for 2019, and is joined by the highly talented & vastly experienced Australian, Jason O’Halloran.
Now into the third season competing in BSB, the team is run by Grant Bunting & Steve Rogers, and is based at Fleetwood, Lancashire, whilst McAMS (an acronym for Motorcycle Accident Management Services), continues as title sponsors. Looking back to his first season on a Superbike, the ever smiling Mackenzie just got stronger and faster as the year progressed, making many a pundit sit up & take notice as he climbed the podium on four separate occasions (the best being 2nd & 3rd at Silverstone). However with some six crashes during the season, his 10th overall placing in the 2018 championship never fully did him justice – which is something he aims to put right this year!
2019 sees the beginning of a new chapter in the career of Jason O’Halloran. Following 11 years riding Honda machinery, the move to a new team, and a new manufacturer, sees him reinvigorated and more than ready to fight for race wins on board the YZF-R1. For a rider who has twice finished as high as 5th overall in the BSB Championship, various factors over recent years, including injury, have hit his CV hard – the simple fact is, the best of ‘The O’Show’ is still to come! Both Mackenzie & O’Halloran are extremely fast and fearless. They possess all the necessary ingredients to make the Showdown - indeed, come seasons end, McAMS Yamaha could well prove to be one of the surprise teams of the 2019 series!
