Following the move of BSB Runner Up, Jake Dixon to the 2019 Moto2 World Championship, team owner Lee Hardy continues his policy of developing young talented riders by inviting 2018 National Superstock 600 champion Ryan Vickers as Dixon’s replacement in the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki team.
For the 20 year old from Thetford, Norfolk it’s certainly been a meteoric rise to Superbikes. Eight times a British Youth Moto Cross Champion, he moved into road racing in 2016, finishing runner-up in the Thundersport CB 500 Series, before heading to the National Superstock 600’s the following season where he placed 8th overall. Winning 10 of the 11 races he started in last years National Superstock 600 Championship, he didn’t just win the Championship, he blitzed it!
Not surprisingly his performances did not go unnoticed, although many pundit’s anticipated that a season in the British Supersports would be the next step, Lee Hardy had different ideas & needed a replacement rider for the departing Dixon.Yes, Ryan will be very much an underdog in this his Bennetts British Superbike debut season, and it is a massive learning year ahead of him, but the example of Jake Dixon’s success will spur him on.……..This is a massive opportunity for the youngster. He is not about to let it pass him by!
